Kicking off our National Breastfeeding Month celebration

SUPPORTING MOMS: How National Breastfeeding Month
raises awareness and offers support
The breastfeeding community has historically celebrated the first week of August as World Breastfeeding Month. But in 2011, the United States Breastfeeding Committee officially deemed August National Breastfeeding Month.

We've been looking forward to this month all year, and there's a lot to celebrate. Many breastfeeding advocates will be holding nurse-ins, breastfeeding walks, and conferences throughout the month. And we'll be participating with giveaways, podcasts, information, and a ton of breastfeeding support. We kicked off our celebration by contributing to Huffington Post to highlight the importance of National Breastfeeding Month.

Flip over to read about how far we've come in spreading awareness and knowledge in the U.S. about the benefits of breastfeeding, and where I hope we're heading in the coming years. How are you spreading the breastfeeding love this month?
