| MOMS IN THE CITY: How these moms are offering breastfeeding support |
First up are Risa Goldberg and Leslie Venokur, founders of the Big City Moms in New York City. Risa and Leslie started their company to give working moms a chance to get together with other moms through social events. Their network has since expanded into Los Angeles and Miami, and Risa and Leslie do a lot to educate and help new and expectant moms on everything from baby strollers to breastfeeding.
One such event is the Expectant Parent Dinner, where I'll be the featured speaker. I'll be talking to moms about making the decision to breastfeed and how to incorporate breastfeeding into a birth plan, what to expect in the first two weeks of breastfeeding, and much more. Risa and Leslie will also be sharing advice, part of it from their own experiences as moms themselves.
In fact, when we spoke, Leslie had just given birth to her son, Max, a week earlier! I was thankful that she found the time to speak with OnCloudMom blogger Caitlin. Listen in as she asks about the history of Big City Moms, how the organization supports breastfeeding, and where moms can go to find more information if they want to get involved.
Thanks Leslie and Risa for joining us on our blog to celebrate National Breastfeeding Month. We'll be talking to experts and organizations through the month of August to see how they're supporting breastfeeding moms, so keep your eyes here.
