Breastfeeding Through the Storm

If you’re a breastfeeding mom anywhere in the path of Hurricane Sandy, you may want to check out the article I just posted on The Huffington Post: Hurricane Sandy: Tips on Maintaining Breastfeeding Success During an Emergency.

It contains some advice that hopefully will help you maintain your breastfeeding success through the storm and better prepare you for the next emergency.

The article includes information on:

  • Protecting Frozen Breast Milk
  • Pumping with No Electricity
  • Relactation

A Final Thought – Grab the HPA

Another critical checklist item for breastfeeding moms in an emergency is to be sure to have enough nipple cream on hand, especially if you may need to suddenly travel. Of course we’re biased, but the truth is, HPA Lanolin is still the purest nipple treatment available and the added benefit is, you can use if for multiple purposes because it is safe for you and baby to ingest. So, chapped lips, sore nipples, dry skin, and even diaper area – HPA Lanolin creates a lock against moisture and bacteria while it also helps to soothe soreness. If you’re a breastfeeding mom and you need to pack light, it’s a must-have for your travel bag.

Stay safe and dry this week – and let us know how you’re all doing!
