Oatmeal Mamas: Pass the Milk and Cookies

Congratulations to the winners of our Gobble Gobble photo contest!
First, thanks to all the moms who shared photos with us of their families in last week’s Gobble Gobble contest on our Lansinoh Facebook page.

Congratulations to our two winners! Toni-Marie for her winning photo of her 5 month old son Zachary posing with their 23-lb. Honeysuckle White Thanksgiving turkey. And Lindsey Janie for her beautiful photo of her 5.5 month old Loralye enjoying a little turkey time. Both will be receiving their choice of a Lansinoh mOmma Feeding Bottle set or mOmma mealtime set.
Hope all of you had a wonderful and healthy Thanksgiving – and at some point got to put your feet up and relax!

For moms who are breastfeeding, the hectic schedule of holiday and entertaining can pose challenges on routine and diet. Your diet is so important, it not only keeps you going but helps your body maximize milk production – which keeps your milk flowing, and key to maintaining breastfeeding success during busy times. There are great tips on a optimal breastfeeding diet from our friend Heidi and her team at What to Expect.

However, one of our favorite tips for boosting your milk supply is eating yummy oatmeal and other foods rich in grains and vitamins. Kelly Mom has a great blog post that explains the science behind why oatmeal helps moms make more breastmilk.

So you may be thinking – UGHHH, oatmeal?? – how many bowls can I stand of it per day? The good news is, there are so many ways to use oatmeal beyond just the average bowl. In fact, Boobfood.com came out earlier this year with a great oatmeal recipe for lactation cookies that is worth checking out.

But beyond cookies, there is still plenty of room to get creative in the kitchen with oatmeal! We found some wild and wonderful recipes online that use oatmeal in various inventive ways, which may help you look at oatmeal a whole new way and integrate is into more of your daily diet.

Here are some of our favorite oatmeal recipe finds from our search:

Do you have any fun recipes for oatmeal? Beyond breakfast and cookies? Something handed down from family? Please share them with us either here or on our Lansinoh Facebook page! We’ll test them and share our findings on best results.

Next Friday, we’ll share our pick for best recipe here and award the entrant with a fun Lansinoh mOmma mealtime assortment!

Take care,
Gina

For something savory, my grandfather would add an egg yolk and some soysauce to his oatmeal. If he was in the mood for something sweet, he would add condensed milk.
